Title: Designing Meaningful Non-Player Characters with Henrik Warpefelt
Date: Oct 3rd, 5-6pm
Location: EAE Games Studio (Building 72, Level 2)
Open to the public

Description:
Non-Player Characters (NPCs) help facilitate many important parts of the game experience. They act as opponents and allies, provide services and quests, give narrative exposition, and make the game world feel like a living place. Unfortunately, they do not always do this in ways that contributes to a positive game experience for the player. In this talk we will discuss how players interpret and interact with NPCs, and how game designers can guide and assist this process.

Bio:
Henrik Warpefelt is an assistant professor of game design at the Department of Game Design at Uppsala University in Sweden, where he teaches game design and programming. His research is focused on the player experience of games, Non-Player Characters, and procedurally generated content.
