So, you have an amazing idea for a new game but need some funding to make it happen. Where do you turn: Investors, Publishers, Kickstarter? How do you get started? What are they looking for?

You’ve landed a new job at a great game studio, but you don’t understand some of the decisions being made. Is the management team wrong, or is there something you aren’t seeing?

Money is a factor driving most decisions in the video game industry, but very few game makers know how it really works. This talk will explore the ins and outs of the game business, how big decisions are made, and how to prepare yourselves to get involved.

For the past 15 years Rich Valiquette has been making games as an Executive Producer, Head of Publishing, and as a Business Owner, but most importantly as a designer and a fan. From leading the development of major franchises with Electronic Arts such as Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf, Superman Returns, and Minions Paradise, to starting multiple successful independent studios, to building a world class publishing division for International Gaming Technology, Rich has seen some of the best and the worst that the video game industry has to offer.

Currently the President and Co-Founder of Chaos Studios, Rich and his team are working on multiple projects spanning from mobile gaming, to AAA eSports development. When he’s not buried in projects Rich is an avid console gamer playing most of the major Xbox and PS4 releases, and spending way too much time playing Rocket League. When he doesn’t have a controller in his hands you’ll find him out enjoying the mountains around Salt Lake, either on a snowboard or on the back of a bike. He has also had a sip or two of the CrossFit Kool-aid, and is always open to meeting new folks that are up for a workout or bike ride.
